Miami attorneys J. Everett Wilson and Michael Gennett will serve in their respective roles on behalf of The Florida Bar for the 2019-2020 term
Shareholders J. Everett Wilson and Michael Gennett, of Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli, have been named to leadership roles with The Florida Bar’s Health Law Section. Wilson will serve as Chair for the 2019-2020 term, and Gennett assumes the position on the Executive Council of the Health Law Section.
As members of Polsinelli’s national Health Care Department and new Miami office, Wilson and Gennett both have a deep history with The Florida Bar. Wilson, who serves as Office Managing Partner for Polsinelli’s Miami office, served as Chair Elect for the past year, while Gennett is a former Chair of the Health Law Certification Committee of the Bar.
“We are proud of Everett’s and Michael’s willingness and desire to serve The Florida Bar’s Health Law Section, demonstrating their leadership and knowledge within this respected industry group,” said Polsinelli Health Care Department Chair Matthew Murer. “Everett and Michael have amassed years of practical experience in the health care industry, in Florida and across the country, and have deep knowledge about so many of the issues facing the health care sector today, making them valuable assets to the Health Law Section and its members.”
The Health Law Section of The Florida Bar’s goal is to “provide a forum for communication and education leading to the improvement and development of the field of health law.” Wilson and Gennett will serve a group that includes thousands of members within the Health Law Section, including all lawyers in Florida who practice health care law or designate as practicing in that area.
“I am honored to serve as Chair of The Florida Bar’s Health Law Section and spearhead the group’s goals and objectives in a strategic and energizing manner,” said Wilson. “I also look forward to continuing the advancement of Polsinelli’s partnership with The Florida Bar as we continue to expand our services and footprint throughout the state.”
At Polsinelli, Wilson has nearly 30 years of health care law experience, focusing his practice on helping clients meet the challenges of a complex and highly regulated health care industry. He represents health care providers and health care insurance entities on issues related to Medicare and Medicaid, operations, managed care, and the regulatory and business issues specific to health care M&A. Earlier this year, Wilson was named, for the third time in his career, to the 2019 “Legal Elite” in Health Care by Florida Trend. He also serves as Chair of the Health Foundation of South Florida.
Gennett’s practice focuses on health care licensing, Medicare and Medicaid compliance and regulatory issues as he represents health care practitioners and providers, medical practices, medical equipment companies, pharmacies and large medical centers.
Polsinelli’s Miami office opened earlier this year with a special focus on the health care industry, along with real estate, financial services, and corporate and M&A services. The firm’s national Health Care Department includes one of the largest concentrations of health care attorneys and professionals in the nation, advising clients on the full range of regulatory and business issues confronting health care providers across the country.
