Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli is pleased to announce Robert D. Grossman, a shareholder in the Kansas City office, has been selected as a 2022 Client Service All-Star, according to national consulting group BTI. Grossman is a shareholder in the Corporate and Transactional Practice Group and leads the firm’s National Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Practice.

Grossman is a nationally recognized ESOP authority, known for his clear communication style while providing sophisticated, but practical, advice to shareholders, boards, management teams and fiduciaries of employee-owned companies, including some of the largest and most successful in the country.  He was also recently named “Lawyer of the Year” for Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law on The Best Lawyers in America© 2021 list. His practice involves the design, drafting and operation of ESOPs as well as other types of qualified retirement plans, executive compensation programs and equity and non-equity based management incentive plans.

“At the heart of almost all of my client relationships, you’ll find a shared commitment to and passion for ‘employee ownership,’” Grossman said. “My first conversation with a client or prospect often involves a fairly simple and frank conversation about what an ESOP is and how it might work in their business. If that conversation resonates, we might proceed through a series of additional steps involving feasibility analysis, listening, plan design and drafting, potential transaction structure, documentation and implementation. I think it’s important for clients to understand, as clearly and completely as possible, what the process will entail and what the finished product will look like, and I believe that our years of highly specialized experience with ESOPs allows us to do just that.”
“I have also learned that the process doesn’t stop when the documents are signed,” Grossman said. “Helping a client build and foster a sustainable employee ownership culture is an integral part of a successful outcome, and I enjoy being there with them and advising on a variety of matters over the long haul. The strong relationships and extraordinary results that develop from that shared commitment are what make my job feel like something other than work.”

Now in its 20th year, BTI Client Service All-Stars represents the highest standard used by corporate counsel and law firms alike to identify attorneys delivering the best client service. BTI’s All-Stars cannot be nominated, but instead are singled out by more than 350 top legal decision makers at large organizations with $700 million or more in revenue. BTI defines a Client Service All-Star as excelling in five traits – engaging with clients, investing time in their clients, showing industry savvy, demonstrating unequivocal clarity, and anticipating client needs. The BTI Client Service All-Stars selection draws solely on in-depth, confidential phone interviews as part of BTI’s ongoing Annual Survey of General Counsel.
