Marty Harper, managing partner of the Phoenix office of Polsinelli Shughart PC announced today that Nancy E. Pisaruk has joined the firm’s Phoenix office, of counsel, in the general corporate practice group. Pisaruk represents an array of clients in a variety of business transactions and corporate governance matters. Her clients include entrepreneurs and start-ups, as well as large private and public companies.
“Nancy brings great skills and contacts to Polsinelli Shughart,” said Harper. “She is a talented lawyer and a welcome addition to our firm. We have grown tremendously over the past two years. Our ongoing growth strategy includes developing a first-rate corporate practice to complement our existing nationally recognized business litigation practice. We welcome Nancy to the firm.”
For start-up companies and entrepreneurs, Pisaruk assists companies’ founders when choosing an appropriate entity to operate their businesses. Pisaruk also helps companies’ founders ensure that proper corporate governance steps are taken at the origination of their business. As a company progresses, Pisaruk works with clients as outside general counsel, providing a resource for founders and company management, facing day-to-day issues and challenges. These include staffing matters, contracting with third parties, corporate restructuring and ongoing corporate governance matters.
In this challenging economic climate, Pisaruk recognizes that many clients are watching their resources but advises start-up companies to get appropriate legal counsel from the onset. She is careful to work with clients within their means and provide guidance to ensure that clients protect their business interests, including intellectual property. In addition, Pisaruk works closely with clients as significant corporate events present themselves, such as mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity financings. She welcomes the vast resources of Polsinelli Shughart., a national law firm with nearly 470 attorneys.
“I am excited to be on the ground floor in building a premier business transaction practice at Polsinelli Shughart in Phoenix,” said Pisaruk. “I look forward to serving the firm’s existing clients with expanded corporate services and also providing my existing clients with the added resources of a national firm with international connections. Through Polsinelli Shughart, I can now offer my clients excellent in-house resources for complex intellectual property issues, software and licensing matters, as well as health care, environmental and real estate issues that arise.”
Pisaruk is a 1996 graduate of the University of Nebraska Law School, where she was a member of the Law Review. She received her MBA from Arizona State University while working full-time as an attorney. Pisaruk is actively involved in the State Bar of Arizona’s Business Law Section and Securities Regulatory Section. She is a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association, Arizona Women Lawyers' Association, Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, and Kappa Alpha Theta.
