Polsinelli Shughart PC welcomes attorney Craig M. Waugh to the firm as an associate in the Trial department where he will practice in the business litigation group. Waugh’s practice concentrates on the resolutions of commercial disputes on behalf of both large and small businesses, as well as individuals. Additionally, he represents clients in commercial foreclosure actions.
“Given the increase in foreclosures, it is critical that we have a strong team to represent our clients,” said Phoenix Managing Partner Edward Novak. “With Craig’s background in debtor/creditor disputes and commercial foreclosure defense, he will be a valuable resource for the firm and a tremendous asset for our clients.”
Waugh joins a national firm of 530 lawyers including 210 trial attorneys. He will be assisting clients in general contract and business tort litigation in both state and federal courts. A significant portion of his practice is devoted to representing clients in all aspects of Arizona non-judicial foreclosures process, deficiency and guarantor litigation, fair market value hearings, receivership actions and post-judgment execution proceedings. His experience also includes negotiating and executing short sales, deeds-in-lieu, forbearance and settlement agreements, and other alternatives to litigation. Waugh also has experience in the area of commercial bankruptcy and has advised clients on stay proceedings, claim analysis and plan confirmation issues.
“Joining Polsinelli Shughart during this exciting growth period is a great opportunity for me and my clients,” said Waugh. “The firm’s depth of experience and commitment to the communities it serves presents a unique opportunity to contribute my litigation experience to serving clients both locally and nationally.”
Waugh earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 2008, and earned his B.A. degree in Political Science and Spanish, cum laude, from the University of Vermont in 2004. While at Georgetown, he served as the Notes and Articles Editor of the Journal of International Law. His distinctions include serving as a Global Law Scholar and Global Teaching Fellow, and he is the co-recipient of the 2008 ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Labor and Employment Law. Waugh is currently serving a two-year appointment as Commissioner with the Maricopa County Trials Courts’ Judicial Merit System Commission.
