Polsinelli can now serve clients’ needs coast to coast. The national law firm acquired Quateman LLP, California’s largest women-owned municipal bond counsel firm effective July 1, 2011. With the acquisition, Polsinelli adds Los Angeles to its roster of offices which includes Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, New York, Phoenix St. Louis and Washington, D.C. Quateman Managing Partner Lisa Quateman, who founded her firm 22 years ago, will remain managing partner of the Los Angeles office.

“As our clients’ needs increased, we searched for the right firm to expand our capabilities to the West Coast,” said Polsinelli Chairman Russ Welsh. “We think we’ve done that with the acquisition of Lisa’s firm. We plan on building the Los Angeles office on the base of our core practices as we have recently done in Chicago, Phoenix and Denver. We’re very excited to have Lisa and her team on board and pleased to be able to now serve clients’ needs in California.”

The addition of Los Angeles expands the firm’s national footprint to nine states and 17 cities.

“Los Angeles is part of our strategic growth plan. We wanted to begin our Los Angeles office with a group of very talented and experienced attorneys who share our commitment to service and value. Lisa and her team fit the bill and will now join our large national health care and corporate practices,” said Welsh.

Initially, the following six attorneys will practice in firm’s Los Angeles office and the firm anticipates adding lawyers in the next few years.

The six new attorneys in Los Angeles include:
  • Managing Partner Lisa Greer Quateman focuses her practice on finance, corporate, real estate, international and municipal law
  • Principal Tracey M. Ginn serves clients in corporate, finance and international matters
  • Principal Timothy J. Reimers serves clients in municipal finance and corporate finance, and real estate transactions
  • Senior Counsel Michael J. Connell concentrates his practice on corporate, securities and finance
  • Associate Eric B. Blum focuses his practice on real estate and finance
  • Associate Donna Mo practices in corporate, real estate and finance

In addition to Los Angeles, the firm recently added a Dallas office, and brought in large groups of shareholders in Denver, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. The National Law Journal ranked Polsinelli Shughart as one of the fastest growing law firms in the country. This expanding platform, the firm’s entrepreneurial spirit and its strategic growth are attracting sophisticated lawyers and clients across the country.

“We will be able to serve our clients in a new and exciting way,” said Quateman. “Polsinelli has vast national resources in key markets all across the country, and experienced attorneys with knowledge in areas important to our clients. We look forward to using the platform to better serve our clients and bring our talents to the existing clients of Polsinelli.”

For Quateman it is a return to big law where she began her career before founding her own firm. The Los Angeles Business Journal named her as a “Woman Making A Difference," and Quateman’s firm was listed among the “100 largest women-owned businesses in Los Angeles.”

“I look forward to having the resources of a national law firm behind my team,” said Quateman. “It gives me an opportunity to focus my attention on clients’ needs and service. This is a great turning point for me.”
