National law firm Polsinelli Shughart PC will acquire Jefferson City-based law firm Hendren Andrae LLC, effective April 6, 2010. Three shareholders, two senior partners and two associates from Hendren Andrae will join Polsinelli Shughart, the second largest law firm in Missouri, to practice public policy, government relations, regulatory law, and business litigation in the state capital of Missouri.

“We’re excited about this addition to our firm and what it means for our clients,” said Polsinelli Shughart Chairman W. Russell Welsh. “The well-respected Hendren Andrae attorneys will provide an outstanding resource base to our existing government relations practice and litigation capabilities. With this acquisition, the combined resources of our firms will provide our clients with a deep bench of public policy outreach in four state capitals and in Washington, D.C.”

Welsh explained that the addition of Hendren Andrae is part of Polsinelli Shughart’s strategic growth plan, focused on an “expanded public policy bench strength and expertise,” with a broadening national reach. By April 6, with the addition of the attorneys from Hendren Andrae, Polsinelli Shughart will have added 28 lawyers in fiscal year 2010 alone, a reflection of its continued growth in the midst of a challenging economic environment.

Clients have relied on Hendren Andrae attorneys for more than 60 years to represent them before the Missouri General Assembly and state government agencies, and in state and federal courts. Well-known Jefferson City shareholders Richard Brownlee III, Michael Dallmeyer and Rodney Gray will be bringing more than 95 years of combined legal experience to Polsinelli Shughart.

“We’re excited to join a premier law firm with a strong and growing national Public Policy, Regulatory and Business Law practice,” explained Richard. Brownlee. “Our respective clients will greatly benefit from our combined strengths. This is a natural fit for our firms,” added Michael Dallmeyer.

The acquisition of Hendren Andrae complements the firm’s nationally recognized Regulatory Law group, Business Litigation practices, and Public Policy group. Former Missouri Congressman Kenny Hulshof, who divides his time between Kansas City, St. Louis and Washington, D.C., will also maintain an office in Jefferson City. The firm also recently announced the addition of Pete Levi, former President of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, who leads the Kansas City regional public policy practice group and will be closely aligned with the Jefferson City team.

“The Hendren Andrae group will be an outstanding asset to our Public Policy team,” Welsh concluded. “Our unique and growing relationships in multiple markets, combined with our boots-on-the-ground strategy enables us to offer our clients expanded resources on many critical fronts, both at the state level and in Washington, D.C. We can’t wait to put these resources to work.”
