Four Polsinelli Attorneys Named to National Litigation 2017 ‘Under 40 Hot List’

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli congratulates four of its attorneys who have been included in Benchmark Litigation’s Under 40 Hot List for 2017. Kansas City attorneys Jay E. Heidrick and Robert V. Spake, Jr., St. Louis’ John M. Challis, and Phoenix’s Melissa S. Ho were named to the second-annual list.

The Under 40 Hot List honors the achievements of the nation’s most accomplished legal partners age 40 and under. Benchmark utilizes a process of peer review and case examination compiled over many months to assemble this collection of young, up-and-coming attorneys.

“These young attorneys have been performing at a very high level for several years, consistently bringing value to our firm and our clients with their vast expertise, diligent work ethic and superior client service,” said Polsinelli Chairman and CEO Russ Welsh. “We’re proud to have their talents here at Polsinelli, and look forward to watching them grow to become the next generation of elite leaders within the legal profession.”

As a Shareholder in the firm’s national Intellectual Property Litigation Practice, Heidrick focuses on litigating complex intellectual matters, with an emphasis on patent, trademark and copyright matters, as well as contract disputes. In addition to his courtroom experience, Heidrick provides knowledge of discovery and trial tactics, including issues related to e-discovery to his clients. He also oversees and manages Polsinelli’s Litigation Services Department, which provides e-discovery services to clients.

Spake is member of Polsinelli’s Commercial Litigation Practice and focuses his practice on complex business, derivative, securities and shareholder class action litigation in both federal and state courts throughout the country. Before joining Polsinelli, he worked as a law clerk to the Honorable Donald F. Parsons, Jr. of the Delaware Court of Chancery. As an extension of his prior work in Delaware, Spake frequently partners with colleagues in the firm’s Wilmington office and regularly practices before the Delaware Court of Chancery.

This is Challis’ second-consecutive year on the Under 40 Hot List. As a member of the national Intellectual Property Litigation Practice, Challis focuses in the areas of intellectual property and technology litigation. He serves clients by providing counsel, advice and litigation support on patent infringement, trademark infringement, copyright infringement, intellectual property ownership, licensing issues, unfair competition and trade secrets.

Ho is a trial attorney with a detailed understanding of government regulations, intellectual property and international business. This is her second-consecutive year on the Under 40 Hot List. As a former prosecutor, she is sympathetic to the disruption and chaos a government inquiry and criminal investigation can cause, allowing her to successfully defend matters at both state and federal levels. She practices in the firm’s national White Collar Defense & Government Investigations group.

This recognition comes during a momentous time for Polsinelli, as the firm was recently named among 24 elite law firms nationwide for superior client relationships, ranking No. 10 on BTI Consulting Group’s 2017 Industry Power Rankings. The firm was also ranked No. 17 in BTI’s Client Service A-Team report published earlier this year, and was named No. 20 on BTI’s 2017 Brand Elite list.
