Polsinelli Named Law Firm of the Year by Asian American Bar Association of Kansas City
Polsinelli has been named the Law Firm of the Year by the Asian American Bar Association of Kansas City
(AABAKC). Recognized for its long history of support, and for the time and effort the firm and its attorneys have put into the organization, Polsinelli was chosen as the recipient of the 2017 award, which will be presented at AABAKC’s 11th annual dinner this Friday, Oct. 6 at Courtyard Kansas City at Briarcliff.
“We are honored to be named Law Firm of the Year by AABAKC, and recognized for our commitment to their organization, which we deeply believe in and support their mission of promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal industry,” said Polsinelli Shareholder and former AABAKC President Judy Yi
. “This recognition would not be possible without the firm’s core value to promote and address the needs of minorities nationwide.”
AABAKC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote justice, equality and opportunity for Asian Americans, and to foster professional development, legal scholarship, advocacy and community involvement in the metropolitan Kansas City area.
Polsinelli has been a longstanding supporter of the AABAKC. Yi, a shareholder in Polsinelli’s national Labor & Employment practice, was a member of AABAKC’s board of directors from 2005 to 2011, serving as treasurer from 2006 to 2009 and as president in 2010. Polsinelli Associate Henry Thomas
, also a labor and employment attorney, currently serves as AABAKC’s president of the board of directors and previously served as treasurer, secretary and volunteer coordinator of the organization.
“As current president of the board for AABAKC, I could not be happier for our firm to receive this award,” Thomas said. “Polsinelli takes great pride in the work it does to advance diversity and inclusion in our community, and I applaud our firm and our attorneys for their ongoing efforts.”
This award reinforces Polsinelli’s commitment to diversity, and its pursuit and promotion of inclusion. The firm has recently earned other recognition for its commitment, including a high score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Scorecard
for the firm’s diversity policies and practices involving lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees, and inclusion in the Equality Illinois Raising the Bar
for the firm’s welcoming and fair work environment for LGBT employees and engaging in the LGBT community, Law360’s Top 100 Law Firms for Female Attorneys
two years in a row and the Women in Law Employment Forum Gold Standard Certification
three years in a row. Earlier this year, Polsinelli was also recognized by the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City as Law Firm of the Year.
