Polsinelli’s San Francisco Employment Partner Chuck Thompson Selected to Justice & Diversity Center Board of Directors

Polsinelli’s Chuck Thompson has been selected for a three-year term as a board member of the Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) of The Bar Association of San Francisco, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

JDC is one of the largest and most distinguished legal services providers in San Francisco. JDC’s primary purpose is the delivery of free legal services to low-income San Franciscans, as well as the non-profits that serve them. The organization delivers free legal services through its Legal Services Programs division, which consists of the Pro Bono Legal Services Program, Homeless Advocacy Project, and the Immigration Program. JDC provides enrichment programs to diverse youth and young adults through its Diversity Educational Programs.

“I am passionate about the JDC’s work to advance fairness and equality by providing pro bono legal services to low-income people and education programs that foster diversity in the legal profession,” Thompson said. “Today, the organization serves 9,500 disadvantaged San Franciscans a year, and we will continue to move forward to assist the communities’ most vulnerable members.”

An experienced labor and employment attorney, Thompson represents public and private companies’ complex wage and hour and employment discrimination class actions. In addition to his trial and counseling work, he actively serves as a private and judicial mediator and arbitrator, volunteers as an arbitrator for the San Francisco and Marian County Courts, and has served as a mediator upon request. Thompson also is a regular speaker at continuing education bar association events throughout the nation. He often lectures on a wide variety of civil litigation subjects, including all facets of employment litigation and developments, effective discovery techniques, trial strategy, and ethics. He leads the Western Regions Diversity Committee, is a member of the California Diversity Council, and has actively supported and promoted diversity efforts throughout his career. He recently was honored to present the award for Diversity Council of the Year at the Bay Area Corporate Council awards and collaborates with clients on diversity issues.

“The firm is pleased that the JDC has selected Chuck to join its board,” said Polsinelli’s Labor and Employment Department Chair Nancy Rafuse. “His extensive experience in assisting clients find solutions to similar matters will undoubtedly be a resource to further the JDC’s mission. We are honored that  Polsinelli can be a resource to the JDC in this fashion.”

Thompson is also a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a member of the California State Bar Labor and Employment Executive Committee where he Chairs the Community Outreach Committee, and active with the Association of Corporate Counsel, Defense Research Institute, and the International Association of Defense Counsel.
