Polsinelli welcomes the addition of intellectual property attorney Alyssa Sandrowitz to the firm’s growing Denver office. A registered patent attorney, Sandrowitz brings extensive experience in patent prosecution and litigation. She specializes in patent prosecution, post grant proceedings at the USPTO, design patents and litigation. With the opening of the new Denver Satellite Patent Office, Sandrowitz joins two other key IP hires, both former patent examiners, in Denver earlier this year. The hires add to Polsinelli’s already strong Denver intellectual property group, making Polsinelli one of the leading, full-service Intellectual Property Practices in the Rocky Mountain region and nationally.

“We are pleased to add Alyssa to our expanding team of patent and IP attorneys in Denver,” said Greg Durbin, Denver shareholder and vice chair of the IP Practice at Polsinelli. “With her experience in both patent litigation and prosecution and especially post grant proceedings, Alyssa is in a unique position to counsel clients. She brings a proven track record for both patent owners and petitioners.”

Sandrowitz, who is counsel, brings a deep understanding of complex IP and patent issues for a range of industries including advanced engineering materials, semiconductors, consumer electronics, engine and transmission systems, medical devices, sporting goods and energy technologies.

Polsinelli’s Intellectual Property Practice is focused on helping clients with intellectual property and patent issues both locally and nationally. With the recent opening of a new regional patent office in Denver, Polsinelli’s growth in this area reflects a commitment to Colorado and the state’s entrepreneurial opportunities and continued need for trusted legal counsel.

“I’m really excited to be part of a firm that is business-minded and committed to understanding its clients’ business needs,” said Sandrowitz. “In addition, I like being part of a growing firm with nationally recognized intellectual property capabilities.”

As a litigator, Sandrowitz has drafted summary judgment motions, claim construction briefs, and discovery related motions. In the area contested Patent Office proceedings, Sandrowitz has served as counsel to some of the largest corporations in the world in inter partes review and reexamination matters, which often involve co-pending district court litigation. She also has an expertise in design patents and prosecuted nearly 400 design patents in the U.S. and abroad for some of today’s most recognizable consumer electronics.

Sandrowitz earned her law degree J.D. from the American University, Washington College of Law, a M.S.E. in mechanical engineering from Princeton University and a B.S. in Ceramics/ Materials Engineering from Rutgers University.

In January, Polsinelli hired Timothy Worrall and Milan Vinnola who are establishing a strong position in the firm's growing Denver practice. Both highly experienced patent attorneys with national practices, Worrall and Vinnola began their careers as patent examiners in Washington, D.C. They augment a Denver and nationwide practice that has deep experience in all aspects of intellectual property across all technology sectors.

The Intellectual Property practice is a cross-functional group of attorneys in Polsinelli offices nationwide who serve client’s IP needs in a variety of industries. The firm’s attorneys handle the most complex issues facing technology and high tech companies, bioscience and life sciences companies, animal science, medical device, pharmaceutical, software and business methods, data, privacy, health care IT, and any of a variety of other high tech industries.

Sandrowitz is licensed only in Virginia and the District of Columbia, and she is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
