Polsinelli welcomes Emil Hirsch and Steve Pozefsky to the firm’s national Commercial Litigation practice. Both attorneys bring decades of experience representing high-profile clients in commercial and health care litigation. Hirsch and Pozefsky previously practiced together at one of the largest firms in the southeastern United States.

“Emil and Steve not only bring years of valuable experience to our practice group and the firm, but both are excellent strategic thinkers and always have the goals and objectives of their clients top-of-mind,” said Polsinelli Commercial Litigation Practice Group Chair Russ Jones. “We are very excited to have their legal knowledge on our team.”

Hirsch and Pozefsky join a team of litigation attorneys that reach from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., and include Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers. They both enter the firm during an exciting time as The American Lawyer Magazine just released its Am Law 100 rankings and Polsinelli moved up 20 positions to No. 93. Polsinelli’s recent ranking in Modern Healthcare’s national ranking of Health Care Practices is notable as both attorneys focus on health care litigation. Polsinelli is listed as the third largest Health Care practice in the nation.

As shareholder, Hirsch brings extensive trial and appellate experience, including civil RICO, securities, breach of fiduciary duty claims, directors’ and officers’ liability and litigation involving fraud. His litigation practice specializes in various real estate industry matters, financial institutions, health care providers, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy litigation and the representation of utilities and other public bodies in matters involving administrative and constitutional law.

“I was attracted to Polsinelli for many reasons and appreciate the comprehensive approach the firm takes with each of its clients,” said Hirsch. “The firm is recognized for its deep capabilities in litigation and healthcare and I look forward to being a part of a strong and reputable team.”

With an AV Preeminent Rating by Martindale-Hubbell, Hirsch was selected for inclusion in Washington D.C. Super Lawyers for both 2013 and 2014. He earned his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law and his B.S. from the University of Maryland. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and belongs to bar jurisdictions in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

As Counsel, Pozefsky handles litigation in state and federal courts across the country on topics ranging from civil and commercial issues to construction law and government contracts. His health care litigation practice includes civil and criminal investigations and proceedings, as well as compliance and risk management. Pozefsky counsels clients in government contracts, including compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation and regulations for participation in government programs for small and disadvantaged businesses. He litigates contract claims and bid protests before the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the GAO and the Boards of Contract Appeals. He also has successfully represented government contracting clients in suspension and debarment proceedings as well as in international disputes.

“I value the firm’s dedication to clients by understanding their needs and crafting the best legal strategies to serve their objectives,” said Pozefsky. “We are both really happy to be with such a growing and dynamic firm.”

Pozefsky earned his law degree from George Washington University Law School and his B.S., magna cum laude, from the University of Albany. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, Maryland Bar, New York Bar and American Bar Association.
