Polsinelli welcomes highly experienced trial attorney George E. Kostel to the firm’s national Commercial Litigation Practice. Kostel brings national practice spanning more than 20 years of federal court experience, particularly in the Eastern District of Virginia, known as the “Rocket Docket,” a preferred venue for some of the most complex litigation in the nation. Kostel serves a wide variety of industries, including aerospace, corporate, healthcare, franchises, financial services, among others.
“I joined Polsinelli because they have a great mix of broad practice areas across a wide spectrum of clients,” said Kostel from the firm’s Washington D.C. office. “Polsinelli’s national litigation reach and breadth of its practices in the D.C. metro area and beyond were contributing factors as well. I’m very excited to help continue the remarkable growth of the firm, and look forward to expanding our D.C. litigation capabilities further."
Because of the importance of many of the matters he has handled, more than 25 of his cases have been decided by published opinions. He joins a national team of litigation attorneys that reach from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. and include Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
“We seek attorneys who are business-focused and truly understand their clients’ needs,” said Polsinelli Commercial Litigation Practice Group Chair Russ Jones. “George fits the bill and brings an impressive record of client results, acumen and courtroom prowess to our national team of attorneys.”
In addition, Kostel has assumed leadership roles on a number of important Boards and Commissions including the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Alexandria Historic Resources Commission, and a number of non-profits dedicated to ending homelessness. He currently serves as chair of the Development Committee for New Hope Housing, an organization that provides job training, meals and shelter to more homeless Virginia residents than any other organization. He is a past Chairman of the Board of Wesley Housing Development Corp., the largest affordable housing provider in the National Capital region.
Kostel joins the firm at an exciting time. The American Lawyer Magazine just released its Am Law 100 rankings and Polsinelli moved up 20 positions to #93. In 2013, the firm moved up to the 69th position in The National Law Journal’s ranking of the largest U.S. based law firms. Washington, D.C. has been part of that growth. Newly expanded and relocated in 2013, Polsinelli in Washington, D.C. moved into Franklin Square last fall and occupies two floors in the recently renovated building at Franklin Tower.
