Polsinelli welcomes Jennifer Franklin to the firm as an attorney who will assist clients with toxic tort and mass tort matters. Attorneys in the national Toxic Tort and Mass Tort Practice have successfully defended tens of thousands of toxic and mass tort cases. Previously, Franklin worked as an assistant attorney general in the office of the Illinois Attorney General.

“After working as a civil prosecutor, I wanted to diversify my experience, and defending corporations instead of prosecuting them gives me this opportunity,” said Franklin. “I look forward to collaborating with business-minded attorneys who will provide me with an opportunity to expand my skills as an attorney and build a practice.”

In Franklin’s role in the office of the Illinois Attorney General, she filed enforcement actions against business entities. During her tenure, she was on the team of attorneys who led a multistate predatory lending investigation, litigation and settlement. The effort resulted in an $8.7 billion settlement.

“Jennifer brings a wealth of experience to her new role,” said Dennis J. Dobbels, chair of the firm’s Toxic and Mass Tort Practice. “She will be a valuable resource for our clients and a tremendous asset to our team of attorneys.”

Franklin earned her law degree from the University of Akron School of Law, where she served as President of the International Law Society, and her bachelor of science degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Franklin is member of the American Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association. She currently serves on the Diversity Committee of the ABA Business Law Section, and is Vice Chair of the Standing Committee on Law Related Education for the Public of the Illinois State Bar Association. She was previously a member of the Board of Directors of Chicago-area nonprofit organizations including Rape Victim Advocates, and the Community Relations and Planning Committee for Heartland International Health Centers.
