Leane K. Capps, a Dallas-based shareholder in Polsinelli’s Commercial Litigation and Appellate practices, has been named a 2016 Most Powerful & Influential Woman by the Texas Diversity Council. The award will be presented to Capps and other statewide honorees April 14 at the Council’s 12th Annual Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference in Houston.

The Most Powerful & Influential Women Awards recognize high-ranking female executives in Texas who have demonstrated leadership, professional accomplishments, a commitment to community well-being and the highest ethical standards. The Texas Diversity Council is a non-profit organization that advocates for diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community.

“Leane is an incredible lawyer whose talent and dedication to the law is matched by her commitment to the community and the firm,” said Polsinelli Dallas Office Managing Partner Jonathan Henderson. “She is richly deserving of this award, which recognizes her continued efforts to serve as a role model and mentor for other women and young professionals.”

Capps advises clients across the U.S. on commercial litigation and appellate matters. She is highly regarded nationally as a trial lawyer, commercial litigator and as an appellate practitioner. She represents clients in a wide variety of industries involving technology, aviation, collegiate sports and energy.

“We are very proud of Leane earning this recognition for her substantial professional achievements and demonstrable leadership as one of Texas’ top professional women,” said Polsinelli Commercial Litigation Practice Chair Stacy Carpenter. “This is yet another testament to her skill and national reputation as an outstanding attorney and community leader, and underscores her vital role as a counselor to many of Texas’ top companies and organizations on their most critical issues.”

Capps has repeatedly been selected as a Texas Super Lawyer and as one of the Best Lawyers in America for commercial litigation and appeals, in addition to special honors from Texas Super Lawyers as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Texas, one of the Top 100 in Dallas/Fort Worth and one of the overall Top 100 Texas Super Lawyers. She has also been listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers and selected for inclusion in the Best Women Lawyers in Texas.

Adding to her professional honors, in Nov. 2015 Capps was elected chair of the Council of Appellate Lawyers, the first and only national appellate bench-bar organization in the country. She was also recently named a senior fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers.

An advocate for community and the legal profession, Capps demonstrated authentic commitment early in her career and for the past decade with proven leadership roles in the American, Texas and Dallas Bar Associations, and in various Dallas/Fort Worth industry and civic organizations.
