Polsinelli Names Mary Clare Bonaccorsi Managing Partner in Chicago
Healthcare Litigator to Replace Tony Nasharr; 4 Firm Offices Now Headed By Women
Polsinelli is pleased to announce that litigator Mary Clare Bonaccorsi is the new managing partner of the firm’s Chicago office
Bonaccorsi begins her tenure June 1, replacing Anthony Nasharr, who held the position since Polsinelli entered the Chicago market in 2006, acquiring Nasharr's six-lawyer firm, Nasharr & Shea. Under his leadership, the office grew to 100 attorneys.
Bonaccorsi focuses her practice on serving clients in the health care field, chairing the firm’s Health Care Litigation practice. She serves her clients as a strategic advisor at the highest levels, often filling the role of outside general counsel, and has been the lead attorney on several recent high-profile matters. She also applies her legal skills to pro bono matters, such as a recent case in which she was able to obtain insurance coverage, which had been denied by patient’s carrier, for life saving treatments in connection with a transplant procedure.
“I’m thrilled to be stepping up to lead the Chicago office,” Bonaccorsi said. “We have a special group of people who are terrific at what they do, who service great clients, are respectful and supportive of one another, and who are fortunate to come to work every day in such a beautiful space. The future is bright and I’m excited to take on this role in leading us forward.”
Earlier this year, the firm moved into more than 85,500 square feet of space in the just-completed 150 North Riverside Plaza tower.
Nasharr, who oversaw the years-long planning process for the move and has continued to serve clients in the financial services sector during his time as managing partner, will remain with the firm. He says he plans “to more fully focus on the client relationships I have had for many years, and maybe some new ones as well.” He will also continue in his capacity as the firm’s Contact Partner with Multilaw, the association of 80 law firms across 100 countries, which serves clients’ international needs.
“It has been an honor and privilege to have been the Office Managing Partner of the Chicago office of Polsinelli over the last 11 and a half years,” he said, “and I’m so pleased to be passing the torch to Mary Clare, who is an exceptionally talented lawyer, a thoughtful and visionary practice leader, and a great friend.”
Bonaccorsi was recently honored by the Chicago Business Journal
as one of its 2017 “Women of Influence.” In nominating her for the award, colleagues noted that she has been a mentor to women at Polsinelli and across the legal profession.
Polsinelli has 20 offices coast to coast. Four of them are now led by women, including Atlanta (Nancy Rafuse), Denver (Jennifer Evans), and St. Louis (Jane Arnold).
