National law firm Polsinelli announced today the implementation of a pilot program for the Local Patent Rules United States District Court for the District of Colorado. In adopting these local rules, Colorado joins jurisdictions such as Northern California in providing a standardized protocol for the efficient administration of patent cases. Denver Shareholder Michael Dulin served on the committee that drafted the local patent rules. The local rules are open for public comment until May 1, 2014. Along with the opening of the new Colorado Patent Office, the local patent rules make Colorado a key destination for companies intending to either protect or enforce their innovations.

“Patent cases have unique procedural requirements, including enhanced disclosure obligations,” said Dulin. “The local patent rules will better define these requirements, and provide efficiency and uniformity to those seeking to enforce their patent rights in the District of Colorado.”

As a shareholder in the Denver office of Polsinelli, Dulin has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation, largely focused on intellectual property matters. He routinely handles cases involving patent, trademark and copyright infringement, trade secret theft, anti-cybersquatting, and unfair competition claims. Dulin has significant trial experience, including recent roles as first-chair counsel in jury and bench trials, as well as arbitrations for clients in the telecommunications, software, and oilfield technology industries. Dulin is the immediate past chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Colorado Bar Association, where he led an organization of 700 intellectual property lawyers throughout Colorado.

Polsinelli recently announced the addition of two highly skilled patent attorneys bolstering the firm’s intellectual property capabilities in Denver and nationally. Shareholder Timothy A. Worrall and Counselor Milan M. Vinnola are both accomplished at developing strategies for clients and are admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
