National law firm Polsinelli has named Noel Cohen Managing Partner of its Los Angeles office. Cohen, a commercial litigation attorney, assumed responsibility from Lisa Greer Quateman, who helped launch the Los Angeles office in 2011 as part of the firm’s strategic initiative to develop a California presence.

“We are very grateful to Lisa for her leadership in our Los Angeles office over the past five years,” said Polsinelli Chairman Russ Welsh. “The LA office is an important part of the firm’s strategy to provide clients with practical legal counsel and value through innovation from coast to coast. We are pleased that Noel will be leading that office as the firm continues to grow in California.”

Quateman will continue to assist clients with complex commercial lending and capital markets transactions, as well as regulatory matters. Cohen will focus his leadership on the continued strategic growth of the Los Angeles office and the firm’s increasing expansion of its services in California. In 2014, the firm opened a San Francisco office that has already doubled in size.  Polsinelli has risen more than 100 spots in the Am Law’s annual firm rankings over the past six years and was recently ranked among the top five percent of law firms for providing outstanding client service by BTI. The firm was also recently referenced in articles byThe American Lawyer and Law360 for its strong 2015 financial performance.
Cohen will continue to serve clients in the areas of complex commercial litigation, employment litigation and employment class action defense while serving as office managing partner.

“The opportunity to lead the Los Angeles office is an exciting one,” said Cohen. “The firm has positioned itself well for expansion in key markets in California. I am looking forward to the possibilities ahead.”

Cohen has been practicing in California for 14 years. He earned his J.D. from Emory University School of Law and his B.A. from Tulane University. He is an active board member of C5LA, a non-profit organization that inspires high-potential youth from under-resourced environments and prepares them for leadership roles in college, work and the community. In 2012, Cohen was honored by Public Counsel as Pro Bono Attorney of the Year.
