Polsinelli shareholder Virginia C. Gross was recently selected as a member of the IRS’ Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Government Entities (ACT). Gross is one of six members who make up the exempt organizations subcommittee. She was appointed by the Department of the Treasury upon recommendation of the Commissioner of the IRS, and will serve for two years in the prestigious position.

“I am very pleased and honored to serve with other accomplished professionals, and I look forward to the opportunity to provide guidance to the IRS on matters of importance to the tax-exempt sector,” Gross said.

Gross is a shareholder at Polsinelli and focuses her practice on nonprofit organizations and tax and business planning.

Gross joins the IRS ACT group, which is governed by the Federal Advisory Committee Act, Public Law 92-463. The ACT is an organized public forum for discussion of relevant employee plans, exempt organizations, tax-exempt bonds and federal, state, local and Indian tribal government issues.

Gross provides counsel to a variety of nonprofit clients, such as charitable and educational organizations, private foundations, associations, supporting organizations, medical research and other health care organizations and social welfare organizations. She also works with many nonprofit boards of directors on governance matters and writes and presents extensively on tax-exempt organization legal issues.

She earned her law degree from the University of Texas and a B.S. from Texas A&M University. She is a member of the Bars of the District of Columbia, Kansas, Missouri and Texas. This committee honor accompanies her recent selection for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2013 for Non-Profit/Charities Law, an honor which she has received annually since 2009.
