Polsinelli welcomes experienced litigator Zuzana S. Ikels to the firm as shareholder where she will focus on healthcare and complex commercial litigation. Ikels will practice nationally from the firm’s newly established office in San Francisco which opened in July to expand Polsinelli’s services and geographic reach in a thriving and critical region.
“Zuzana brings years of valuable experience to our practice group and the firm, but equally as important, she is an excellent strategic thinker with the goals and objectives of her clients always top-of-mind,” said Health Care Litigation Practice Chair Mary Clare Bonacorsi. “We are very excited to have her legal knowledge on our team.”
Ikels’ practice focuses on handling complex commercial disputes, with particular success in representing healthcare clients in a wide array of disputes, including claims involving the False Claims Act and Stark and Anti-Kickback Acts, the peer review privilege and healthcare initiatives. She has also had considerable success in obtaining dismissal and defeating class certification in consumer and antitrust class actions for technology and telecommunication companies. She brings extensive experience in e-discovery and litigating e-discovery legal issues.
“I was attracted to Polsinelli for many reasons and appreciate the comprehensive approach the firm takes with each of its clients. But the opportunity to deepen and widen my experience with a preeminent law firm with a national health care reputation essentially led me to Polsinelli,” Ikels explains. “The firm is recognized for its deep capabilities in litigation and healthcare and I look forward to being a part of a strong and reputable team.”
The American Lawyer Magazine recognizes Polsinelli as the fastest growing U.S. law firm for the past six years. Polsinelli opened its San Francisco office in July 2014 as part of an ongoing goal to provide the firm’s national and California-based clients with a legal platform that best serves their interests. Working closely with colleagues in Los Angeles and Polsinelli’s 18 other offices across the country, Ikels joins a team of experienced attorneys representing both prominent national and regional clients.
In 2012, The California Daily Journal selected Ikels as one of the state’s Top 20 Under 40. She was also included in Northern California Super Lawyers Business Litigation and Top Northern California Women Attorneys in 2013 and 2014. She earned her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2000, and her B.A. in Philosophy, with honors, from St. John’s College.
Ikels is an excellent source for reporters working on stories about:
• Complex commercial litigation disputes
