He was appointed to and served on a special task force charged with harmonizing the Model State Trademark Bill with the Federal Trademark Dilution Revision Act in 2007.
A Colorado Bar Association (CBA) Fellow, Posthumus is actively involved with the IP Section of CBA, serving as Intellectual Property Section Chair from 2010 to 2011, Vice Chair from 2009 to 2010 and Secretary/Treasurer from 2008 to 2009. He is past member of the Board of Directors at Disability Law Colorado (2007-17) serving over the years as both vice president and president of the board.
Posthumus earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of New Hampshire and holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both business administration and electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Colorado.
