Polsinelli Shughart Chicago office continues to experience strong growth with the addition of Patrick J. Elder as a shareholder in the Real Estate Development/Transactions Practice. Elder brings highly developed transactional skills to the firm representing a wide variety of industries but with a particular focus on energy and commercial real estate transactions.

“We’re fortunate to be adding attorneys of Patrick’s caliber to the Chicago office as we continue to grow strategically based on what our clients’ need,” stated Polsinelli Shughart Chicago Managing Director Anthony J. Nasharr. “Patrick will be a valuable asset to the Chicago office and nationally.”

Elder has a diverse and exciting practice that spans many aspects of real estate and business, including real estate, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities acquisitions/sales, design and construction matters, leasing, working on large industrial supply, service, and real estate transactions for alternative energy clients, and construction and real estate finance transactions. His clients have included developers, owners, purchasers, landlords, tenants, borrowers, one of the largest wind turbine manufacturers and service providers, and lenders.

“I’m very excited to join the Polsinelli Shughart team,” said Elder. “The firm has a strong national platform and coast to coast resources that offer my clients both quality and value.”

The firm’s national Real Estate Department includes more than 60 attorneys from Los Angeles to New York with a strong Midwest presence of real estate attorneys in Chicago, Kansas City, Overland Park and St. Louis. Polsinelli has been recognized each of the last four years by Midwest Real Estate News as one of the top six law firms in an 11-state area based upon the number of real estate transactions handled during those years.

“Patrick’s extensive work in all types of commercial real estate transactions as well as his energy experience will help us as we strive to proactively serve our clients in expanding areas,” said Real Estate Division Chair John D. Petersen.

Elder earned both his law degree, cum laude, and MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2001, and his B.S. cum laude, in finance from the Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1997. He is admitted to practice in Illinois.
