The National Law Journal recently interviewed Polsinelli Chairman Russ Welsh for its focus on Midwestern law firms. Reporter Karen Sloan spoke to Welsh about the growth of the firm and our recent climb in ranking in The American Lawyer. The article, "Kansas City kid is taking on the big players now," is featured in the August 8-12 edition. Welsh is quoted as saying "We're competing with the big firms now. We still have regional practices, but we have national practices in financial services, life sciences and health care. Our cost structure is definitely one of our selling points. I'm not talking about discounting. We have so many lawyers in Kansas City and St. Louis, and we can take advantage of that with lower rates."
The NLJ also spoke to Chicago Managing Director Anthony Nasharr about out-of-town firms expanding to Chicago. The article, "In Chicago, they like to do things in a big way," is featured in the August 8-12 edition. Nasharr is quoted as saying "We've been able to attract experienced people from bigger firms with a cost structure that can allow them to reduce their rate to a level where they can be used a little more."
