Former roles in education, marketing and legislation have prepared Dan Cranshaw with the legal, business, and communication skills to effectively evaluate and understand a client’s business. He works hard to gain a clear understanding of a company’s make up – the people, the processes and the specific business goals – enabling him to provide timely strategic planning and mitigate risk.

Whether through litigation, alternative dispute resolution, strategic consultation, or a simple assessment of an insurance policy, Dan works collaboratively with corporate clients and/or their boards to ensure companies can successfully defend claims, secure coverage, and grow their businesses.

Focus areas of Dan’s practice include:
  • Defending products liability and warranty claims
  • Commercial litigation
  • Risk management
  • Toxic tort litigation
He has been involved in class actions in state and federal courts throughout the United States and has successfully dealt with all aspects of class action litigation, including pre-certification dismissals and summary judgments, class discovery, class certification and de-certification, and claims administration.

Dan has successfully resolved claims for individual and corporate clients through alternative dispute resolution, including a favorable settlement of a significant breach of contract dispute. In addition to his litigation experience, Dan is well-versed in the development and execution of discovery motion strategies and strategic case management techniques. He works on national trial teams, where he plays an integral role in pre-trial discovery and investigation.

Ranked in Benchmark Litigation and recognized by the American Board of Trial Advocates Award for Outstanding Performance in Trial Advocacy, Dan also places a high importance on giving back to his community. A former Board member of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, he has also sat on or chaired the Boards of major charities in the Kansas City area, including Swope Health Services, Don Bosco Community Centers and the Salvation Army of Kansas City.
