Jean Pechette, a practice leader of the Health Care Technology & Innovation Group, has more than 20 years of experience in information technology, data privacy and cybersecurity, and intellectual property law, with a focus on the health care technology and life sciences industries.  She previously  served  as a division general counsel for a Fortune 50 company.  Her clients range from start-ups and emerging growth companies, health systems,  to several multinational Fortune 500 companies.

Intellectual Property Counseling 

Jean has provided advice and representation on:  

  • Intellectual property audits, due diligence, licensing, transfer and protection, including relating to use of open source, clean room development  and compliance programs
  • While serving as a division general counsel at a global transformational medical technology company, she served as  product counsel working with cross-functional and business development teams from product conception and engineering, to launch.  She also worked with her business development teams in evaluating potential acquisition targets, leading due diligence teams, and structuring and negotiating acquisitions. She has also led integration projects on: 
  • Developing and implementing regulatory compliance policies and processes
  • Privacy and security protection programs
  • Review of marketing and promotional content and strategy for new product launches and new "go to market" contract templates and processes
  • Intellectual property protection strategies and programs for acquired entities
 
  • Represent leading multinational technology company in several strategic complex cloud-based licensing transactions, including in connection with transformational strategic collaborations in the digital health space.
  • Regularly counsel multinational technology company on data privacy and cybersecurity and healthcare regulatory matters, including with respect to digital health platforms, mobile health and wellness Apps, AI, cloud computing and data collection and use initiatives. 
  • Serve as primary healthcare technology and regulatory compliance counsel to a global information and analytics  company including its healthcare revenue cycle management technology and services business entities on data privacy and cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, information technology and intellectual property matters.  
  • Negotiated a cloud-based enterprise data platform agreement with a Fortune 100 technology company on behalf of one of the largest nonprofit health system. 
  • During her time as general counsel for a global transformational medical technology company, Jean Marie played an integral role in the growth of the imaging and IT business from a start-up venture (under $50 million) to an almost $2 billion business.
  • Drafted enterprise-wide technology and services procurement and licensing templates, including in connection with large scale telehealth initiatives, for leading provider of healthcare services and operator of hospitals and health systems.
  • Created suite of template agreements for a startup health care management technology platform provider, including platform licensing agreement, portal terms of use and privacy policy, and EULA.
