Jim Stipek knows how to build something from the ground up. He takes great pride in serving his clients as they take their innovations to the next level. Jim concentrates his practice in the area of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law.

His practice includes:
  • Preparation and prosecution of US and foreign patent and trademark applications 
  • Registration of copyrights 
  • Preparation of license agreements and agreements relating to the transfer or protection of technology
  • Strategic planning and portfolio development
  • Preparation of opinions related to patentability, validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate
  • Due diligence in mergers, acquisitions, and investments
Jim also works with a trial team in actions concerning the validity, infringement, and enforceability of patents, particularly with respect to overall strategy, claim construction, and technical and legal positions.

As an electrical engineer, he has a broad knowledge of computer-related inventions. He also has experience with electrical components, motors, vehicles and associated navigation and sensor systems, wired and wireless telecommunications, media streaming systems, Internet protocol systems, global positioning systems, computer hardware, computer software, and related computer and network architecture arts.
