Matthew Melfi has a natural inclination to understand issues and solve problems. After receiving a Masters of Laws in Health Law from Loyola University in Chicago, Matthew joined Polsinelli to be a part of one of the best health care practices in the nation. He works with health care providers and businesses to facilitate compliance and smooth operations in a complex regulatory environment. Matthew has a knack for researching complicated and unique issues, and providing clients with practical and usable advice.

Working primarily with hospitals and provider groups, Matthew provides advice on day-to-day regulatory and operational issues, including both state and federal law compliance, such as scope of practice and supervision requirements, informed consent, licensure requirements, fraud and abuse, corporate practice of medicine, telemedicine, and clinical research. He has significant experience with drafting, reviewing, revising, and negotiating a wide range of agreements on behalf of clients.



  • Assist expanding health care company prepare for operations in multiple states by drafting memoranda regarding compliance with fraud and abuse laws, corporate practice of medicine restrictions, telehealth laws, and out-of-network billing restrictions for more than 30 states.
  • Provide assistance to health system with respect to provider and vendor contracting, working with in-house legal, operations, and clinical teams to manage the entire life-cycle of contracts.
  • Work with nation-wide physician practice group to ensure compliance with state and federal laws by preparing policies, drafting provider agreements, advising on provider scope of practice, supervision, and licensure, and providing general and specific advice related to operations
