Nathaniel ‘Tani’ Weiner is a seasoned corporate lawyer with a special focus in the behavioral health field. He designs, implements and closes deals by taking into account not only traditional corporate structure considerations but also the additional layers of licensure, regulatory and reimbursement considerations that are part of executing transactions in the highly regulated health care industry. Tani regularly partners with management teams and equity sponsors to successfully execute growth strategies through M&A, financing, joint venture, and real estate transactions. 

Tani has successfully closed more than 50 M&A transactions in the behavioral health field including:
  • PE and strategic acquisitions in the $5-75M range
  • Corporate sale transactions in the $350M to $1.2B range
  • Joint venture and affiliation agreements involving for-profit and non-profit providers
  • Real estate purchase, leasing and sale-leaseback transactions
Tani serves as outside general counsel to companies who benefit from his 15 years of experience representing leading behavioral health providers in all facets of their legal affairs. He has a track record of leadership in significant transactions, in the resolution of major regulatory, compliance and litigation matters and in the development and implementation of policies designed to reduce legal risk.

Tani's previous responsibilities include serving as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Acadia Healthcare Company and CRC Health Group and as Chief Legal Counsel of Aspen Education Group.
  • Lead M&A counsel in over 30 behavioral health acquisition and sale transactions in the $5-75M range.
  • Significant role in negotiation and implementation of behavioral health corporate sale transactions in the $350M-$1.2B range.
  • Represent seller and management team in PE recapitalization transaction involving multi-site behavioral health provider.
  • Represent non-profit behavioral health provider in $7M sale to PE-sponsored behavioral health portfolio company.
  • Represent non-profit behavioral health provider in affiliation with national non-profit behavioral health provider.
  • Negotiate and complete joint ventures involving substance abuse, eating disorder and weight management treatment services as well as implantable medical device technology.
  • Represent PE-owned behavioral health provider in due diligence review and acquisition of numerous residential and outpatient treatment providers.
