In addition, Peter has extensive experience with restructuring and insolvency-related matters, representing various parties in complex business reorganizations and distressed investment opportunities. 
  • Representation of a developer on an award-winning mixed-use project in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, involving multiple land acquisition, joint venture, and construction financing transactions.  The project is comprised of three separate phases, featuring a 30-story luxury apartment tower completed in 2019, a 28-story student housing tower ready for occupancy in the 2021/22 academic year, and a 32-story high-end mixed use project breaking ground in summer 2021.  All phases are part of a long-term development relationship with the City of Phoenix that entails post-completion conveyance and leaseback transactions with the City. 
  • Representation of a student housing developer on a mixed-use project in Minneapolis, Minnesota, breaking ground in spring 2021.  The approximately $140 million project will be comprised of nearly 1,000 beds and 30,000 square feet of retail space. 
  • Representation of a student housing developer on numerous university-adjacent projects throughout the United States.  The projects typically contained 200 to 400 units and had development budgets in the range of $50 to $125 million. These representations included all aspects of the transaction, from negotiating purchase agreements and coordinating due diligence, to negotiating and closing construction financing and joint ventures.
  • Representation of a seller in a sale and leaseback transaction involving nationwide retail department store portfolio valued at approximately $2.9 billion.
  • Representation of a buyer in its acquisition of high-end retail and restaurant properties in Charleston, South Carolina.
  • Representation of an investment firm in its acquisition and disposition of numerous charter school properties throughout the United States. 
  • Representation of a seller in the sale of its restaurant portfolio spanning three states and 70 locations.
  • Representation of a developer in its acquisition and development of mixed-use luxury projects in Arizona, Iowa and Colorado. 
  • Representation of a secured creditor in acquiring substantially all of a Chapter 11 debtor’s assets, including a 14-story mixed-use development in Chicago.   
  • Representation of a buyer in a Section 363 asset sale involving a retail pharmacy chain.
  • Representation of Chapter 11 debtors in successful restructuring of $9 billion debt, which included playing primary role in negotiating favorable amendment terms on dozens of real property leases throughout the United States within the context of the court-administered lease rejection and assumption process.
  • Representation of an administrative agent on a $260 million syndicated loan for the acquisition and construction of an office building in New York City. 

Pro Bono

  • Representation of the widow of a National Guardsman whose statutory benefits were denied as a result of the government’s initial determination that the National Guardsman did not die while serving in any duty-related capacity.  Our application was granted by the Board for the Correction of Military Records, and the client and her children are receiving significant financial, medical and educational benefits as a result.
  • Representation of an Iraq War veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, successfully obtaining Combat-Related Special Compensation.
