Suzanne Bassett counsels clients on compliance, enforcement, and transactional matters subject to overlapping jurisdictions of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Suzanne’s experience also extends to matters involving the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and various state and municipal agencies. She has a range of regulatory experience in representing clients in matters involving various products, including:

  • Dietary supplements
  • Cosmetics
  • Food
  • Prescription and over the counter (OTC) drugs
  • Medical devices
  • Consumer products

Suzanne defends clients against FTC and National Advertising Division (NAD) challenges as well as complaints from competitors. She also has experience advising clients on developing and verifying advertising claim substantiation. Following the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, she has assisted clients in navigating federal and state laws regarding the manufacturing, promotion, and retail sale of hemp and cannabidiol (CBD)-based products. 

Before working at Polsinelli, Suzanne gained several years of government experience at the FDA, Center for Tobacco Products and the Department of Justice, Executive Office for United States Attorneys. Suzanne has an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and studied microbiology at the Integrated Graduate Program in the Life Sciences at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
