Samuel Long is an associate in the firm’s Employment Litigation practice, where he represents employers and executive-level employees in all aspects of employment law.  He has represented and counseled clients across various industries, including the financial services, gaming, healthcare, hospitality, and manufacturing industries, on a wide range of matters including:

  • Whistleblower retaliation claims under the False Claims Act and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
  • Employment discrimination and retaliation claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and their state and local counterparts
  • Litigation of restrictive covenant and trade secret matters, including breach of contract and tort causes of action
  • Compensation audits conducted by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs
  • Internal investigations involving executive-level employees 
  • Wage and hour class and collective actions under the Federal Labor Standards Act and state counterparts

In addition, Sam also counsels management and human resources personnel on a myriad of day-to-day employment issues, including discipline and terminations, employment contracts and restrictive covenant provisions, employee handbooks and policies, and compliance under state and local leave laws. 

During law school, Sam clerked for the National Treasury Employees Union, and was an editor for the Public Contract Law Journal, which focuses on government contracting issues.
