Steve focuses his practice on commercial real estate, in particular, matters related to commercial real estate finance.  He represents banks, institutional lenders, funds and REITs in a variety of financing transactions secured by commercial real estate.

Steve has significant experience assisting banks and other real estate funds in loans secured by healthcare real estate.  He has served a key role in the financing of various types of medical properties across the country, including hospitals, medical office buildings and senior living facilities. 

In addition, Steve regularly assists with the bridge, permanent and construction financing of multi-family, office, retail and industrial properties.   He has experience in both senior and mezzanine financings, and on syndicated and securitized loans.  Steve has also worked on acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and development, which allows him to think critically about every legal angle of each financing transaction. 

 
  • Represented a lender in an approx. $700 million financing of an equity recapitalization of sixty medical office buildings and hospitals across the country.
  • Represented a lender in an approx. $500 million financing of an equity recapitalization of over fifty medical office buildings and hospitals across the country.
  • Represented a lender in two simultaneous refinancings of several medical office buildings across the country totaling approx. $250 million.
  • Represented a borrower in an approx. $200 million sale-leaseback and CMBS financing of food warehouses in California and Arizona.
  • Represented a borrower in a $194 million construction/permanent financing of a dormitory in New York City. 
  • Represented a lender in a $66 million acquisition financing of three senior living facilities in Maryland.
  • Represented a lender in a $50 million acquisition financing of six senior living facilities in Arkansas.
  • Represented a lender in a $40 million acquisition financing of four senior living facilities in Florida and North Carolina.
  • Represented a national REIT in the financing of multifamily and office acquisitions in Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington.
  • Represented a real estate investment company in obtaining acquisition financing for a retail/office building in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
