Mr. Hohenstein is a member of the Real Estate and Financial Services Department. He emphasizes construction law, insurance coverage matters and real estate in his practice.

With respect to construction, Mr. Hohenstein devotes a  considerable portion of his practice assisting clients in the review, drafting and negotiation of construction contracts and related agreements. He also has experience handling construction litigation disputes in judicial and arbitration settings. In the course of his construction-related practice, he has represented owners, general contractors, design professionals lenders, subcontractors and material suppliers. The cases in which he has participated have included contract disputes and mechanics’ lien claims.

Mr. Hohenstein also has experience with environmental, product liability and construction insurance coverage disputes and issues, as well as general commercial litigation.

  • Part of the team representing a national developer in the development, design and construction of warehouse distribution and fulfillment centers for a leading national e-commerce and technology company, with the responsibility for the preparation and negotiation of the design, construction and consulting contracts for each of these facilities.
  • Over 30 years of experience in representing owners, contractors, and design professionals in contract advice, drafting and negotiations, and covering multiple industries, including EPC contracts for owners in the energy industry.
  • Representing a national architectural firm in drafting and negotiating contracts with institutional owners.
  • Representing owners, contractors, design professionals and others in state and Federal courts and arbitrations resolving construction disputes;
  • Representing clients in resolving other commercial disputes through negotiation, litigation and arbitration.
  • Represented a large general contractor in drafting and negotiating more than 50 general contracts, construction management agreements, and related documents, including contracts for the construction of an international headquarters of a major credit card company, a city convention hall, convention hotels and regional hospitals.
  • Proficient in the use and modification of standard industry contract forms.
  • Provided counsel to contractors, other businesses and individuals in a variety of insurance coverage matters.
  • Represented insureds in insurance coverage lawsuits.
