Nurse Practitioners and 3-Year Reappointments: Managing New Challenges
Rebecca Hoyes, Principal in the firm's San Francisco office, presented on managing the new challenges of nurse practitioners and 3-year reappointments. The session provided an in-depth look at the new 103 and 104 Nurse Practitioner laws and the move toward practice independence in both the hospital and the community.
Attendees learned the details of the expanded NP practice and legal constraints to that practice along with the Medical Staff’s responsibility for the NP’s practice. This session also addressed the Joint Commission’s change of OPPE to 12 months and the extension of reappointments from 2 years to 3 years.
