What To Know As Colorado's Data Privacy Law Goes Live

When Colorado's consumer privacy law takes effect on July 1, it will be the first to be backed by a full set of regulations crafted by the state's attorney general, creating heightened enforcement risks for businesses and nonprofits grappling with how to shoulder their enhanced data processing obligations.  

"The right to cure in an ideal world should be used where there are ambiguities in the law, and companies shouldn't be relying on it to avoid or put off their compliance obligations," said Liz Harding, a Denver-based shareholder and vice chair of technology transactions and data privacy at Polsinelli PC.
