Protection of Employees’ Outward Expression of Religious Faith in Virginia

Effective July 1, 2022, Virginia’s laws relating to employment, the prohibitions on discrimination on the basis of religion, public accommodations, and housing are amended to expand the definition of “religion,” significantly restricting private employers’ rights to take any adverse employment action in response to any outward display of religious faith within or beyond the workplace.
