Polsinelli Further Deepens Health Care Capabilities with Addition of Kenneth Yood in Los Angeles

Polsinelli is pleased to announce that Kenneth J. Yood has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a shareholder in the Health Care Practice. Yood brings decades of experience counseling health care providers and companies on complex regulatory, compliance and transactional matters.

Yood’s arrival continues the strategic expansion of Polsinelli’s Health Care Practice, which has added nine shareholders over the last 18 months, most recently with Richard Rose in Chattanooga and Erin Burns, Claire Davies and Benjamin Wallfisch in Denver.

“Ken brings practical, operationally focused guidance that our clients rely on as the health care environment continues to evolve and become more complex,” said Margaret H. Hillman, Chair of Polsinelli’s Health Care Alignment & Organization Practice. “His understanding of reimbursement, certification and the regulatory issues shaping health care transactions will be invaluable to organizations seeking to grow and adapt while maintaining compliance.”

Yood advises hospitals, home health agencies, clinical labs, diagnostic and infusion centers, specialty pharmacies, post-acute providers and digital health companies on the laws that govern health care operations and reimbursement. His work spans Medicare and Medicaid certification, state licensing, corporate practice of medicine rules, telehealth regulations and state and federal fraud and abuse frameworks. He also regularly supports clients through reimbursement audits, internal investigations, appeals and self-disclosures.

Yood also has significant experience structuring joint ventures, affiliations, provider networks and other multi-entity arrangements. He frequently advises on health care transactions, supporting clients through regulatory due diligence, deal structuring and compliance considerations.

“I am excited to join Polsinelli, a leading national law firm serving all aspects of the health care marketplace with a deep bench in corporate transactions, private equity investment, federal and state healthcare regulatory compliance and the wide range of legal specialties that are needed to achieve success in one of the most complex economic sectors in the country,” said Yood. “With a reputation of excellence in its representation of health care leaders throughout the U.S., Polsinelli’s longstanding presence and experience in California has given it unique insight into the business of health care in what is the fourth largest economy in the world. Joining Polsinelli not only enables me to provide clients with the benefits of having leading health care legal practitioners from across the country within arm’s reach, it also enables me to provide California and West Coast clients with the knowledge, experience and state and local relationships that come from years of practicing health care law from the inside.”

Yood earned his J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law, his M.P.H. from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and his B.A. from Haverford College.

Polsinelli’s nationally recognized Health Care Practice is one of the largest in the country and works as a fully integrated team to seamlessly partner with clients on the whole gamut of health care matters. The practice makes it its business to understand the opportunities and challenges that face the health care industry and, more importantly, clients’ businesses.
