Polsinelli Shareholder Cameron Weil Appointed Chair of ABA’s Real Estate Private Equity Committee

Polsinelli is pleased to announce that Real Estate Shareholder Cameron Weil has been appointed chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Real Property, Trust and Estate Law (RPTE) Section’s Real Estate Private Equity Committee.

Based in the firm’s New York and Miami offices, Weil is a trusted legal advisor for clients navigating the complexities of real estate and capital markets. With over a decade of experience, he has facilitated billions of dollars in real estate acquisitions, financings and securities offerings, including Delaware statutory trusts (DSTs), real estate investment trusts (REITs) and opportunity zone (OZ) funds. 

Earlier in his career, Weil was assistant general counsel for the real estate division of a major investment bank and sponsor of DSTs, OZs and REITs. In that role, he negotiated purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements and loan documents, while also drafting securities offering documentation. His in-house experience combined with his deep knowledge and experience gives him a unique perspective on the intersection of business and law, allowing him to provide clients with practical, solutions-oriented guidance in complex real estate transactions.

Weil also chairs the Acquisition/Disposition Subcommittee of the New York City Bar Association’s Real Property Law Committee and previously chaired their Finance and Development Subcommittee. He also previously chaired the ABA RPTE Section’s Real Estate Investment Trust Committee. 

The Real Estate Private Equity Committee of the ABA’s RPTE Section focuses on real estate, tax and securities issues related to private real estate investment vehicles from both the sponsor and investor perspective. The committee concentrates on private placement offerings and tax advantaged investment structures.

In one of his first acts as chair of the Real Estate Private Equity Committee, Weil co-authored an article that was published in the March/April 2025 issue of RPTE ABA's Probate & Property magazine titled "A Primer on Real Estate Capital Raising and Certain Tax-Advantaged Structures: REITs, DSTs, and QOFs." Additionally, Weil will be speaking at the annual ABA RPTE National CLE Conference held April 30 – May 1, 2025, at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. on the topic of Real Estate Private Equity - Institutional and Retail Investor Perspectives.
