Polsinelli today announced its rebranded and expanded Restructuring & Strategic Capital Practice, naming David J. Karp Chair and Andrew J. Nazar Vice Chair as the group builds a premier offering specifically designed for the middle-market. The practice supports clients navigating complex capital structure issues, financial challenges and strategic opportunities, building on the scale, experience and capabilities of Polsinelli’s full-service, national platform.
Polsinelli's Restructuring & Strategic Capital Practice counsels clients across all aspects of complex financial and capital structure challenges, bringing a practical, solutions-based approach and commercial perspective to each engagement. From liability management transactions, recapitalizations, workouts, opportunistic investments and distressed M&A to out-of-court restructurings and chapter 11 cases, the team helps clients address capital needs and pursue opportunities as readily as it helps them respond to distress. The Restructuring & Strategic Capital team draws on Polsinelli’s deep bench in industries where capital needs, regulation and financial stress frequently arise, including distressed health care, oil & gas, retail, franchise & hospitality, real estate and trucking & transportation.

With more than 27 years of experience counseling investment funds, lenders and companies on matters ranging from billion-dollar chapter 11 reorganizations and loan-to-own strategies to DIP financings and out-of-court sales, Karp has a keen understanding of the restructuring market, how it has evolved and where it is headed. Middle-market companies’ capital structures are becoming increasingly complex, and they expect sophisticated counsel delivered through a model designed specifically for them. Polsinelli is building this practice to meet that need.

Nazar, a seasoned shareholder in Polsinelli's Kansas City office with more than 20 years of restructuring experience, serves alongside Karp as Vice Chair, supporting the practice's national coordination and continued expansion of its team and market presence. Nazar represents debtors, lenders and other stakeholders in bankruptcy, workout and litigation matters, from complex forbearance negotiations and lender liability disputes to time-sensitive bankruptcy sales.
