Polsinelli’s Real Estate Growth Continues in New York With New Shareholder Michael Turo
Polsinelli is pleased to announce that Michael A. Turo Jr. has joined the firm’s Real Estate Practice in New York as a shareholder. His addition underscores the firm’s continued growth in New York and further strengthens Polsinelli’s real estate joint venture and real estate finance capabilities.
His arrival builds on Polsinelli’s national real estate expansion and follows the recent addition of an eight-lawyer team in New York led by Rob Koonin as well as the additions of Philip Piecuch, Daniel S. North and Kristopher J. Stark in Chicago, David S. Rubenstein in Seattle, Matthew L. Friedrich in Los Angeles and Barbara A. Trachtenberg in Boston.
“Michael’s experience with sophisticated real estate joint venture and finance transactions makes him a strong addition to our national platform,” said Kraig Kohring, Chair of Polsinelli’s Real Estate & Financial Services Department. “We have had tremendous growth in our real estate joint venture and finance practices across the country this year, with outstanding strengthening of our presence in the Northeast. Michael is another key part, bringing a deep understanding of New York’s real estate market and further enhancing our ability to serve clients in one of the country’s most active and competitive regions.”
Turo represents institutional lenders, financial institutions and real estate investment companies in high-value real estate and structured finance transactions spanning loan originations, construction and mezzanine loans and distressed loan workouts and restructurings. He counsels clients throughout the full lifecycle of a deal, from joint venture formation, acquisition, construction and financing to development, leasing and disposition.
“The addition of Michael will be a great complement to our growing New York team,” said Bill Di Bianca, New York Office Managing Partner. “As we continue to expand our footprint in the city, we’re excited to welcome sophisticated attorneys who share our collaborative approach and commitment to client service.”
Turo added: “I am thrilled to join Polsinelli’s rapidly growing Real Estate Team in New York, which is home to some of the industry’s top legal talent. My experience will further strengthen the firm’s well-established debt practice while also bringing additional expertise to the equity side, drawing on my years of work with some of the city’s leading sponsors.”
Turo earned his J.D., cum laude, from St. John’s University School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from Quinnipiac University.
