Emerging Legal Developments to Tennessee Employment Laws

Over the last legislative session, the Tennessee General Assembly enacted several significant pieces of legislation that impact private employers operating throughout the state, two of which have immediate impacts on employers: the Tennessee Create a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair (“CROWN”) Act, which will prohibit policies and practices that restrict protected hairstyles associated with race or ethnic groups within the workplace; and a law that now provides unpaid leave to qualifying veterans on Veterans’ Day.
