Bill Hoffman’s deep knowledge of the business of health care and its complex regulatory landscape allows him to help clients solve difficult problems with practical solutions. He makes it a point to stay abreast of trends in reimbursement, regulatory enforcement, and mergers and acquisitions in the health care space to help his clients appropriately manage risk and remain competitive. Perhaps most importantly, Bill is a “high-touch” provider – always available talk through important issues and tailor his advice to ensure his clients achieve their goals. He particularly enjoys helping clients acquire health care companies and serving as a business advisor to help them seamlessly integrate their operations.
Bill represents various types of health care providers and suppliers, with a particular emphasis on:
- Professional practice acquisitions (particularly in the private equity space) representing both buyers and sellers, including ABA therapy, cardiology, dentistry, occupational health, ophthalmology, optometry, orthopedics, podiatry and vascular medicine
- Providing day-to-day compliance counseling, including internal investigations, defending audits and regulatory enforcement actions, fraud and abuse and Stark Law issues
- Hospitals and health systems, including physician alignment efforts, joint ventures, health care fraud and abuse, compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation and Payment, and compliance investigations
- Ambulatory surgery centers, including joint ventures between health systems and physicians and fraud and abuse compliance
- Non-medical transport and mobile health
- Remote patient monitoring and chronic care management
- Outpatient and home dialysis providers
- Office-based laboratories
- Advising laboratories on reimbursement and fraud and abuse, including the Eliminating Kickbacks in Recovery Act
Bill has spent several years as an adjunct professor at his alma mater, Saint Louis University School of Law, teaching courses in Health Care Transactions and Health Care Fraud and Abuse.
