This session will explore the legal framework of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) and its implications for the credentialing of advanced practice nurses (APNs) by medical staffs. The presentation will also address high-profile credentialing fraud cases, such as the Florida fake diploma scandal, and provide strategies to fortify credentialing procedures, ensuring that only qualified and properly credentialed APNs receive privileges at healthcare facilities.  

Patient Restraint – Texas Rules on Emergency Detention Warrants
This session will address the rights and requirements associated with Emergency Detention warrants under Texas law and how those rules impact hospitals.

How the Texas Medical Board’s Investigation, Resolution and Disciplinary Process Impacts Hospital Credentialing and Peer Review of Physicians
This session describes the process by which the Texas Medical Board (“TMB”) addresses  a complaint against a physician, including early dismissal or initiation of an investigation and  informal settlement conference, with possible resolution, or an action to remove or restrict the physician’s medical license. We will discuss TMB information a physician is required to disclose on the Texas Standardized Credentialing Application (“TSCA”) when applying for privileges at a hospital and the potential consequences of such disclosure or the failure to disclose.

Medical Staff Issues Involving Practitioners Participating in the Texas Physician Health Program
This session will address how the Texas Physician Health Program works and how it can impact credentialing and peer review at hospitals.
