Matt Todd counsels his clients on the impact of IP on all aspects of their businesses, from branding and marketing to growth, capitalization, e-commerce and privacy issues. 

Throughout his career, Matt has demonstrated his technological and legal skill in all aspects of domestic and international patent, trademark and copyright use, registration, enforcement, licensing and merchandising. In particular, he has significant experience in drafting and negotiating technology, IT, telecommunication and ISP agreements, including agreements for cloud services. Matt also offers clients extensive experience in successfully managing the trademark portfolios of major U.S. consumer product manufacturers, and has provided IP support and coordination to various forms of transactions, deal groups, and acquisitions centered around technology.

Having received an MBA from the University of Oxford’s Saïd School of Business, Matt represents technology companies at all stages of the business lifecycle including organization and formation agreements, funding agreements, employment agreements, intellectual property development agreements, licenses, non-disclosure agreements and joint ventures. Currently, Matt serves as outside general counsel to several clients in high-tech, defense, and regulated industries. 

In addition to his legal experience, Matt has more than 10 years of experience in network administration and operations.

  • Represented major energy industry corporation in worldwide patent licensing transaction. 
  • Represented global computer industry corporation in worldwide trademark assignment and negotiation. 
  • Managed the trademark portfolio of a US based consumer products corporation. 
  • Drafted Trademark Usage and Branding Guidelines for global handset manufacturer. 
  • Designed and implemented technology development and commercialization strategies and policies for clients in the high-tech and automotive industries. 
  • Drafted and negotiated information technology, telecommunication and ISP agreements. 
  • Assisted startups and early stage companies with organization and formation agreements, funding agreements, employment agreements, intellectual property development agreements, licenses, non-disclosure agreements and joint ventures. 
  • Organized and conducted due-diligence in furtherance of intellectual property driven acquisitions and transactions.
