Richard Murray is a shareholder in Polsinelli’s Commercial Litigation, Health Care Litigation and APA Practice Groups, and focuses on complex commercial, business, regulatory and reimbursement disputes. He advises clients by first understanding their business objectives and how disputes or potential litigation may affect those goals. Richard represents clients in high-stakes litigation matters across multiple industries, including health care, products liability, and real estate and construction. 

Richard has substantial experience handling complex litigation at both the trial and appellate levels and has successfully pursued and defended clients against multi-million-dollar claims. He is recognized for his legal ability and professional excellence as a Chambers USA ranked litigator and with an AV® Preeminent™ peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell®.

Richard has received numerous honors for his legal work and civic leadership. He is the 2026 recipient of the University of Colorado Law School’s Alumni Award for Distinguished Achievement in Private Practice. He was the 2020 recipient of the prestigious Richard Marden Davis Award from the Denver Bar Foundation, recognizing lawyers under the age of 40 who demonstrate exceptional legal skill and leadership. He also received the Denver Bar Association’s Young Lawyer of the Year Award in 2018 and Volunteer of the Year Award in 2024. In addition, Richard has been named one of the Top 25 Most Influential Young Professionals in Colorado by ColoradoBiz magazine, recognized in Best Lawyers in America®, selected ten times as a Colorado Super Lawyers “Rising Star,” and named a “Compleat Lawyer” by Law Week Colorado.

Richard is deeply involved in leadership roles within the Colorado legal community. He was recently elected as Senior Vice President and as the 2028-29 President of the Colorado Bar Association. His service has also included:

Before joining Polsinelli in 2012, Richard represented licensed health care professionals and facilities in liability, regulatory, and disciplinary board matters. Earlier in his career, he served as a judicial law clerk to Justice Nathan B. Coats of the Colorado Supreme Court and previously worked with Justice Allison Eid of the Colorado Supreme Court and Judge David Furman of the Colorado Court of Appeals. His experience also includes service with the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means, the Colorado House of Representatives (including work as a legislative aide), and the Denver City Attorney’s Office, Municipal Operations Section.
