Department of Labor Proposes Rule to Increase Overtime Protections

The DOL has proposed a rule increasing the minimum salary for employees to qualify for White Collar Exemptions from overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The rule would increase exemption thresholds to $55,000 per year and $143,988 per year for Highly Compensated Employees. Employers should assess exemption eligibility and adjust pay accordingly.
