Dr. Sunwoo Lee, drawing on decades of experience in legal practice, corporate R&D and academia, provides strategic insights and practical guidance on intellectual property and technology-related matters to clients operating throughout the United States and the Asia-Pacific region.
Dr. Lee leads Polsinelli’s International Intellectual Property efforts, combining his technical background and lead counsel experience to protect and enforce clients’ IP rights worldwide. He represents domestic and foreign companies—from emerging ventures to Fortune 100 enterprises—in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret disputes in U.S. federal courts and in coordination with Polsinelli’s ITC Section 337 litigation team. He develops and executes global IP strategies, conducts freedom-to-operate analyses and manages international patent and trademark portfolios across technologies including AI-driven innovations and advancements in the semiconductor, display, automotive and biopharmaceutical sectors.
As Polsinelli’s Foreign Desk Leader for Asia-Pacific, Dr. Lee serves as a relationship attorney for Asia-based financial institutions and multinational companies, facilitating introductions and coordinating client needs across the firm. He works closely with international counsel to promote cross-border collaboration, support U.S. market entry and anticipate considerations that affect technology development, commercialization and international business operations. He is also involved in M&A and other strategic transactions, advising on intellectual property due diligence and post-transaction integration.
Dr. Lee collaborates with in-house teams and international counsel to support global IP protection, enforcement and strategic planning. Leveraging his technical background and experience in high-technology and AI-driven sectors, Dr. Lee helps clients understand complex scientific and engineering concepts and translate them into clear, practical IP strategies. His global perspective enables him to connect clients with the appropriate legal resources and align their IP objectives with broader business goals in U.S. and international markets.
