June De Silva is a trademark paralegal with more than 20 years of diverse legal experience. This includes her extensive knowledge in trademark prosecution in a wide variety of technologies such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices and computer science. Responsible for the prosecution and maintenance of expansive international and domestic trademark portfolios, her responsibilities including the following.
- Preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign trademark applications
- Trademark maintenance
- Review of watch notices
- Trademark Trial and Appeal Board filings
- Working with foreign associates to obtain the necessary instructions and documents for foreign assets
She also works closely with the firm’s intellectual property attorneys to conduct and analyze preliminary, foreign and comprehensive trademark searches in order to determine the availability of proposed marks. She reviews client advertisements, product samples and marketing materials to prove use of mark. Given her experience, she also helps develop the strategy for trademark office action responses by gathering evidence and preparing supporting affidavits.
June is also experienced in the preparation of assignment documents ahead of transfers of intellectual property rights, preparation of copyright applications and supporting affidavits and in due diligence projects in support of client acquisitions and mergers.
