- Served as lead project permitting counsel to Google for Project Helium, a 1.7 million-square-foot data center in Barber County, Kansas, advising on the county approval, public engagement and opposition mitigation process that culminated in County project approval.
- Served as project permitting, development and incentives counsel to Invenergy and NextEra Energy Resources on extensive portfolios of over 20 operating wind, solar, battery storage and transmission projects in Kansas and Missouri, totaling more than 3.7 GW of capacity, with multiple additional projects in development.
- Led state, county and municipal siting, land-use, permitting and opposition-mitigation strategies for utility-scale energy and infrastructure projects across the Midwest.
- Represented developers in public hearings and contested proceedings before county commissions, planning commissions, zoning boards, municipalities and state agencies.
- Negotiated development and infrastructure agreements with counties and municipalities, including road-use, decommissioning, financial-assurance and community-benefit provisions.
- Advised data center developers and large-load customers on site selection, local approvals, infrastructure agreements, property-tax issues, economic development incentives and community engagement.
- Advised transmission developers on routing, state and local approvals, public agreements and stakeholder strategy for interstate and regional projects.
- Advised energy and infrastructure developers on property tax matters, tax abatements, payment-in-lieu-of-taxes arrangements and other state and local economic development incentives.
- Represented developers, lenders and investors in the development and/or financing of more than 100 wind, solar and battery storage projects across the United States, representing more than $30 billion in capital investments.
