Polsinelli congratulates longtime client Hugging Face on its definitive agreement to be acquired by NVIDIA for approximately $12.9 billion, marking an extraordinary milestone in the company’s journey from startup to one of the world’s most influential artificial intelligence platforms.
The core Polsinelli Venture Capital & Emerging Growth team advising Hugging Face on the transaction included Venture Capital & Emerging Growth Companies Co-Chair Matt Eckert, Shareholder Mark A. Cloutier and Associates Daniel P. DeConinck, Nicola C. DeVita and Sumner Fields. The team was supported by an expansive team of subject matter experts, including Shareholders Laila Paszti, Mark A. Petry, John M. Robert and Kerry L. Halpern, Counsel Alexander S. Altman and Associates Nguyen P. Le and Adam A. Garcia.
Eckert and Shareholder Prithvi Tanwar began working with Hugging Face pre-incorporation, and the core team at Polsinelli has served as their outside general counsel since 2016, advising on day-to-day matters since incorporation through multiple rounds of venture financing over the course of the last decade, culminating with the transaction announced this week.
The agreement with NVIDIA represents the latest chapter in a remarkable trajectory for Hugging Face, which has built a global community of millions of developers, researchers and creators around its open AI platform.
